My expectation is that abortion becoming a State's Rights Issue will result in a swing to pro-choice candidates in GOP states.

Even Kari Lake has come out against this opinion. She just waits to hear what Trump's opinion is on any topic, then repeats it. so no surprise really In fairness she is making a good go of coming across as a more sane and moderate candidate this time around. As noted before Lake has a lot of media skills from her time as a news anchor so she could pull it off, but I’m sceptical that it’ll be enough to win

On Saturday, April 13, Robert F. Kennedy held a campaign meeting in Iowa, in order to get on the ballot without the need for a petition. Iowa lets independent candidates, and the nominees of unqualified parties, get on the ballot if they have 500 voters at a meeting. The Kennedy meeting had 686 eligible voters, so he has essentially completed his ballot access work in that state. The method is very seldom used. A few years ago the legislature increased the attendance requirement from 250 to 500. At the Iowa event, Kennedy said he is no longer interested in the Libertarian nomination.

The Democrats do seem anxious about him though, probably purely on the basis of the fine margins it could come down to in the swing states, and his name alone could be enough to get a reasonable percentage

If he’s ending talks about the Libertarian ticket then presumably the campaign is confident about ballot access in all or most states, unless they’ve knocked him back

Too cranky for the Libertarians, is it. Ideologically he’s not a perfect match. His stance on Covid lockdowns, vaccines and foreign intervention aligns with the Libertarians but he also has views on issues like climate change action, gun rights and student loan forgiveness that doesn’t really match up with their limited government ideology Nevertheless the Libertarians best chance of doing well in reality is to have a candidate that already has a high profile so that will be why they considered it

I’m sure it will get sorted, sounds like some political posturing going on If he wasn’t on the ballot though, Ohio isn’t really considered in play at Presidential level anymore so it wouldn’t impact the wider picture. It would maybe cause a turnout issue for close house races and of course the Senate race which is a top GOP target

In the unlikely event that Biden wouldn't be on the ballot in Ohio, it could free up campaign funds and staff for more important rust-belt fights. Almost a blessing in disguise?

It's easy to forget his trial was 30 years ago. Many younger people will simply not know who he is.

It's easy to forget his trial was 30 years ago. Many younger people will simply not know who he is. I was two-three years old at the time of the trial so obviously have no memory of it or the immediate aftermath but I remember being aware of OJ Simpson from quite a young age and why he was famous (non NFL reasons that is). A lot of TV programmes and movies seemed to always use it as a reference to someone getting away with murder

On April 17, the Natural Law Party of Michigan, which is ballot-qualified, nominated Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., for president. The party has a tradition of nominating minor party or independent presidential candidates to help them with ballot access.

The Democrats won’t be happy with that one considering it’s swing state status
