Ah, its as if Pinochet never happened. I hope they don't have to learn all over again the hard way.

What enables us to compare the Right of 2023 (UDI&RN&EvoPoli & Rep.) to that of 2021 (the Left was too split then for any meaningful comParison): They increased especially in the north (albeit PDG, which is strong there, ran this time).

Official resultSite: elecciones.servel.clAs expected a No, but narrower than most polls had predicted. Yet, Yes had obviously a certain momentum at the end with rightWingers coming home.

Still, this means that both left and right have lost referendums now. Will anything ever get passed this way?

Doubtful it both sides see the constitutional process as a wish list of policy changes for their side, rather than a structure on how to run the system, and then let policy come through regular elections.

Regional & local elections take part toDay. The right opPosition has not been able to unify - and mayors are elected via FPTP -, but after another scandal inside the left government strong gains for the former are guaranteed. Whether more to (far)right Rep.s (& Christian PSC) or (mid)right ChileVamos could be some preDecision for the next presidential elections (CV's Matthei leads presently Rep.s' Kast, but that could change, if the Rep.s sweep).
