You could name every constituency after the longest-serving member for the seat, excluding currently sitting MPs. How does one determine whether a constituency that has undergone boundary changes should be considered a successor of one that had gone before? Much though I'd enjoy calling Cardiff Central "Mackworth" after Sir Herbert Mackworth, Bar't, of the Gnoll in the County of Glamorgan, who was MP for Cardiff for much of the 18th century...

I see your Mackworth and raise you Walter Coffin (1852-7)

You're right, it was a silly idea.

If Guildford becomes North, then Reading East could be South (after churchman Robert South).Gloucester would have to be West. In that case,Walthamstow should be East, after that, the names can stay another day 😁.(Sorry, that was awful, I do apologise.)

Yeovil: Dampier ( I can remember at my primary school in Yeovil one of the houses was named after Dampier, thankfully not mine. I think there's enough in Dampier's history to make Colston look quite a safe choice by comparison.)
Ashford would almost inevitably be Harvey, if only to stop F&W from claiming him, although the caims of Furley and Harrison would be strong.

Could York Central be 'Bloodaxe'? I was thinking the more genteel "Rowntree".

My stab at Birmingham (personally I would go with the ones in brackets). Yardley and Hodge Hill were a bit of a struggle hence the fairly boring choices of ex-MPs
Sutton Coldfield - Vesey (or Deeley) Erdington – Mason (or Oliver) Perry Barr –Zephaniah (or Apache Indian) Ladywood – Wills (or Osbourne) Hodge Hill – Davis (or Lynne) Yardley – Morris (or Carrott) Edgbaston – Sturge (or Cartland) Hall Green – Tolkein (or Mansell) Selly Oak – Cadbury (or Staniforth) Northfield - Dawson (or Lavender)

Could York Central be 'Bloodaxe'? He was de-selected twice, so probably someone with longer service.

South Swindon could be named after Diana Doors, but using her actual name. Can't see any problems with calling it Fluck. Diana Doors had her knockers though. "Fluck Swindon" written in big letters at the count would be quite the sight!
