Just as a bit of fun, what would various UK constituencies be called if they were named after famous people as they are in Australia?
A few suggestions: Stratford-Upon-Avon - Shakespeare Hull West & Hessle - Wilberforce Merthyr Tydfil - Hardie (Keir's seat for most of his time in parliament) Grantham - Thatcher

Visitors to Birkenhead would be disappointed - they'd expect a much less urban landscape in the Field constituency.

Coventry South would have to be Godiva.
I'm not so certain about the other two Coventry seats, there aren't too may people associated with just those parts of the city rather than the city as a whole.

Birmingham Hall Green might be Tolkien, although Edgbaston has a claim as well. Sutton and Cheam ought to be Hancock if there's any cultural memory left in this country.

If she has to be remembered, then Finchley is the obvious place. For Grantham, I will mischievously suggest (Nicholas) Parsons, who gave more in terms of enjoyment and general jollity to the people than our former PM via his career on telly and radio (and, as it happens, was a lifelong Liberal).

Which of Worcester or West Worcestershire should be Elgar? And Vaughan Williams lived at various times in Cotswold, Mole Valley, Chelsea and Fulham, and Holborn and St Pancras on current boundaries. Which has the best claim?

For Liverpool I'm spoiled for choice re options, each constituency has a dozen famous residents so I tried to select those who were either political or just so big they needed a look in (or both) I'd propose the following...
Knowsley - Wilson After Harold Wilson who was MP for Huyton, though obviously he was from Huddersfield he's nonetheless associated with Merseyside
Liverpool Riverside - Braddock After famous MP for Liverpool Scotland Bessie Braddock, she has a statue in Lime Street Station so why not. Note I could have and probably should have went with Gladstone after William Gladstone but I prefer Braddock as a politician so my city my rules!!!
Liverpool Walton - Tressell After Robert Tressell author of The Ragged Trousered Philanthropist who lived in Walton and is buried in Walton cemetery
Liverpool West Derby - Shankly After Liverpool FC manager and activist Bill Shankly who lived in and is often associated with West Derby
Liverpool Wavertree - Harrison Wavertree was home to three of the Beatles but naming it after Ringo would be silly and Lennon hasn't exactly got a sterling reputation these days so George Harrison it is then!!!
Garston and Halewood - McCartney After Paul McCartney obviously who was raised in the Allerton area of the constituency, yes two Beatles referenced I know but come on its what everyone first goes to when they think of famous Scousers.
Sefton Central - Garstang Nope I'm not naming it after Cherie Blair who was originally from Crosby, being the wife of a PM does not warrant having a seat named after you. Formby resident John Garstang on the other hand was a world renowned archaeologist and some consider him the father of modern Archaeology
Bootle - Carragher OK this one was tough, there's no shortage of famous folk from Bootle but Christ alive was a list of oddballs!!! Paul Nuttall, Terry Fields, Derek Acorah, Keith Chegwin!!! Jamie Carragher was the only one I'd be even remotely proud of if I was a Bootle local, the rest would embarrass me

Liverpool West Derby - Shankley After Liverpool FC manager and activist Bill Shankley who was born and lived in West Derby If you mean Bill Shankly (no e) surely he was born in Ayrshire? The accent was a bit of a clue.

Wansbeck would definitely be Charlton, but which one?

Keep in mind that there are also many Australian federal divisions not named after deceased famous people but after geographical features (e.g. Murray, after the Murray River), suburbs (e.g. Kooyong), or in rare cases the locality covered by the division (e.g. Bendigo).

Wansbeck would definitely be Charlton, but which one? Don’t give the Boundary Commission ideas or we’ll end up with ‘Shearer East’ and ‘Shearer West’.

For Bootle, I'd choose Everett. Kenny Everett was born in Seaforth, and even though he was a Tory, he was a genius.
