ABC once again have moved Indi back to "in doubt". McGowan's lead has been cut to 515 votes. Yes very tight but I believe McGowan will scrape home . About 2,500-3,000 pre poll and postal votes to count splitting roughly 60/40 to Mirabella and 1,000-1500 absent votes which are splitting roughly 55/45 to McGowan

Indi update 1611 new pre polls went to Mirabella 899-712 , 577 absents to McGowan 327-250 , McGowan should now hang on . Fairfax seems to be heading for almost a dead heat Palmer's lead now just 209 , again absents are favouring Palmer but pre polls and postals O'Brien . It could come down to an investigation in the Coolum Beach PPVC voting centre booth " rogue result "

1,291 more absent votes counted in Fairfax went 722-569 in Palmer's favour increasing his lead to 362

Clive Palmer is still in the lead but now by 64 votes. McGowan is holding in there but by under 400.
Meanwhile we're actually getting quite close to the first declaration which is likely to be in Braddon, Tasmania (just 324 postal ballot papers awaiting processing).

Originally Palmer's lot looked taking that Senate seat.

McGowan almost certain to win now , Palmer uncertain
It appears there are about 1,000 absent and 1,000 pre poll votes outstanding in Fairfax , Palmer has been taking 57% of the former and 42.5% of the latter . Likely to be less than 50 votes in it at the end In Indi 1,750 votes outstanding nowhere near enough IMO to stop McGowan

Originally Palmer's lot looked taking that Senate seat. Higher levels of BTL voting in Tasmania than other states, around 10%, makes it a bit more unpredictable.

The Sex Party are only 46 votes away from elimination on the critical round and require far more preferences than Labor to get there. Antony Green's current prediction is that the Liberals will edge it.
If Tasmania has 10% BTL that's well down on past Senate elections.
As for Palmer, I wouldn't put it past him to run to the courts.

IMO there's no doubt now that the final 2PP result will be closer to 54-46 than 53-47.
Currently it stands at 53.45-46.55 with 10 seats still to have their 2PP counted from scratch, and 7 of those are heavily pro-Coalition.

We have the first results - Bass (Tasmania) and Warringah (New South Wales) have declared. The latter is new Prime Minister Abbott's division.

Unconfirmed sources tell me 12% BTL in Tassie. I would imagine Palmer will go to the courts.

Still too close to call in Fairfax . Appears still to count 650 absents which will split his way , 550 pre polls and 100 postals which will not and a critical 200 or so provisionals .
