NORTH NORFOLK; Sheringham North (Lib Dem resigned); Candidates: BRISBANE, Sue (Labour) SHEPHERD, Richard Christopher (Conservative) WITHINGTON, Liz (Liberal Democrat)
2019: LD 472; Con 187; Lab 85
Boundary changes applied this year. Richard Shepherd was Conservative councillor for the old Sheringham South ward (2011-2019) and lost in the new Shreringham South ward in May, but much more narrowly than the Conservative lost here. Sue Brisbane stood here for Labour in May. The reisigned Lib Dem in Sheringham North tended to finish well ahead of his running mate in the old 2 seat ward, indicating a considerable personal vote.
Current Council: LD 29; Con 6; Ind 4; 1 vacancy
OXFORDSHIRE CC; Wallingford (Ind resigned) Candidates: HORNSBY, Elaine (Independent) KNEESHAW, George William (Labour) LLOYD, Adrian (Conservative) SUDBURY, Pete (Green)
2017: Ind 1143; Con 699; LD 379; Lab 363; Grn 318 2013: Ind 1103; UKIP 492; Con 435; Lab 247; Grn 139; LD 86
The Labour candidate has stood here in the last two elections. Elaine Hornsby is a former Conservative councillor for the smaller Wallingford ward on South Oxfordshire DC. She stood there in May, coming third behind the successful Green and Lib Dem candidates. I’m guessing that the absence of a Lib Dem candidate here may be a sign of ongoing local co-operation between the Greens and Lib Dems.
Current Council: Con 30; Lab 14; LD 13; Ind 5; 1 vacancy
WILTSHIRE UA; Trowbridge Lambrook (Con resigned) Candidates: CAVILL, David Charles (Conservative) TRIGG, Jo (Liberal Democrat)
2017: Con 488; LD 344; Lab 165; Grn 75 2013: Ind 662; Con 307 2009: LD 700; Con 522
The Indy elected in 2013 was the Lib Dem elected in 2009.
Current Council: Con 64; LD 21; Ind 9; Lab 3; 1 vacancy

When did Andrew's reviews move to the New Statesman? I wasn't aware of it until now.

Technically he hasn’t; beginning last week, and lasting through to the GE, Britain Elects have partnered with New Statesman to provide polling analysis. Unfortunately this means you’ve got to register with NS to access the BE content including Andrew’s Previews.

You can register for free, though. Maybe more annoying is that this move seems to mean that the previews before last week are no longer available

From how I’ve got it to work, if you click on the link and get a registration page which only requires your email address. I took the chance on entering mine last week and haven’t received any emails etc from them, but can access the BE section of the site.

Maybe more annoying is that this move seems to mean that the previews before last week are no longer available According to BE on Twitter last week they were hoping to upload all their previous content, but if they didn’t manage it before 12 December the site would revert back once the partnership concluded.

There were absent Labour and Green votes to claim. Good that we did. Yes. LD 57.8% (+25.6) Con 42.2% (-3.3) Quite likely that if one of the others had stood, that would have been a close finish

Predictable result but a bit better than I expected. Not necessarily predictable with a GE campaign running alongside.

Predictable result but a bit better than I expected. Not necessarily predictable with a GE campaign running alongside. I think that is a valid point, and indeed I am a bit anxious about each of tonight's contests going to plan precisely because of that. Glad to see the first one is ok, at least.

I agree! I think we'd have won with one other candidate, close if there had been two others but a good campaign should have squeezed them enough given the Con vote fell a bit.
