Or it could be someone unconnected to either party doing something stupid, quite possibly under the influence of the drink.

This allegedly happened at the Brecon by election with a local war memorial festooned in LD stickers, my Gus’s is it’s a nasty right wing faction out to create a non existent story It's been a long time since anyone, particularly one of their supporters, called the Scottish Lib Dems right wing. Nasty faction, fair enough. Ok but I’m sure you didn’t really mean I was suggesting that it was my own party but the interesting point is that it has happened in the last two by elections whoever is the culprit, copy cat?

Even the BBC are getting-in on the scaremongering that the SNP might be making significant inroads here:

Even the BBC are getting-in on the scaremongering that the SNP might be making significant inroads here: Willing to wager a pint on that? On what? That the BBC are suggesting the SNP are going to fair better than normal in Shetland. That's what I posted and Bellhaven will be fine thanks!

To be fair, I'm not sure the National has ever claimed to be unbiased...

To be fair, I'm not sure the National has ever claimed to be unbiased... The question is, when you use the special bias scales (which I imagine look rather like the ones used to test a witch against a duck in the Holy Grail), how many Nationals and how many BBCs would you need on each side to make them balance?

It depends on the issue. The National only has one issue. The BBC has a handful Well, i don't live in Scotland so I don't watch BBC Scotland, but some people seem to think the BBC is biased on every issue..

The BBC holds a position. As a publisher, I think that is to be expected, but they subsist on a compulsory levy, so it's not OK. They are broadly centrist on all issues, give huge levels of uncritical airtime to this position often disguised as not being news or politics (light entertainment, history, or natural history) and can be very very spiteful to people in the public eye who hold contrary views. So, pro monarchy, pro NHS, pro Unionist, pro EU, pro gay rights, pro abortion, etc. Ok, social attitudes mainly, but reflecting mainstream in the sense that gay marriage is now mainstream having been enshrined in law. This is not just BBC Scotland of course. I guess i was getting more at poiltical bias specifically in the Unionist vs Nationslist sense. I would imagine the SNP would agree with the BBC on most of the issues you mention, but appear to hold it in complete contempt..

The BBC is analagous to China Central Television while the SNP are the demonstraters in Hong Kong! About as accurate as a recent viral tweet comparing Antifa to 20th century anti-communists.

I listened to about 5 minutes of the radio debate that took place a couple of days ago.
The Lib Dem woman seemed a bit worthy and hesitant. The SNP bloke was a bit shouty and bossy, interrupting several of the others. Green seemed ok and will be interesting to see how they do. The argument was over freight shipping..
I suspect anything could happen with this tiny electorate where word of mouth is so important, and Party politics much less so. Will they count overnight?

Thanks to a massive campaign involving most of their elected representatives, youth activists and staffers, I'm told by an SNP friend up there that they believe they're in with a realistic shot. Whether this is the usual quality of SNP expectations management is yet to be seen but I think they'll be within 10% of the Lib Dems.

One of the independents is apparently running on a platform of bringing back the monarchy to Scotland. The mind boggles.
