Also, if you look at the Barber example, there is a much clearer instruction of "elect Barber". What does Brexit mean? Does it mean get on with it, cancel it, Brexit, I've noticed that seems to be the topic of political conversation, or do I get a triple letter score here? Brexit means Brexit. Have you not been paying any attention at all over the last three years? It was one of my options if you read it again!

The Electoral Commission responded quickly, but only with a boilerplate reply about rejecting ballots for uncertainty. So I've written back pointing out that if they don't address this issue now, it's almost certain they'll be having to address it on the Sunday night. The Electoral Commission have no responsibility for the count at any election. They do, however, issue the guidance that Returning Officers rely on and in an election where there are multiple counts a central steer is critical. Certainly the possibility that people might write "Brexit" on the ballot paper has been considered by them before - have a look at the 2016 referendum booklet.

No-one's presented any evidence that there is a campaign afoot to have people just write 'Brexit' on the ballot paper. It'll probably never happen. It'll happen. Probably not in a planned way, but I've no doubt it'll happen.

Not sure why you're talking about a campaign - was that suggested? At the local elections many people spoiled their ballot paper by writing thereon BREXIT or a variation thereupon. Therefore there is a possibility that some voters will do so again.
