The PresidentialElection happened yesterday. The VMRO-incumbent didn't run and the OutCome was ... 42: With a TurnOut of 42% both candidates received 42% of all votes (45%:44% without the NoneVotes) and an independent Albanian 11%.
The exCommunists's Albanic CoalitionPartner DUI endorsed already the candidate of their ally and those 11% are roughly, what the 3 other Albanic parties got in the last ParliamentaryElection. So the question in the RunOff will be, how these nonDUI-Albanians will break. On the one hand Gruevski has played on antiAlbanian sentiments and the Albanians are very much interested in EU-integration, thus in an agreement with Greece ("NorthMacedonia"); machoism - the VMRO-candidate is female professor - might play a role. On the other hand it's the Balkans, so the hate of BESA & AA against DUI could be decisive ...

Pendarovski who had the support of the main Albanian party, sould pick up most of the third placed Albanian vote, as Siljanovska-Davkova opposed the rights of the Albanian language.

Yes, that's certanly not unlikely to happen. Yet, as mentioned earlier, the hate against DUI - or islamism - could at least let them stay at home. |

With an even increased participation (47%, +5%) the SocialDemocrat won with 52% vs. 45%.

Yesterday the SnapElection, caused by the failed negotiations with the EU, was happening.
The EC-site is down - also public BroadCaster MRT -, but with 81% counted it is "neck-to-neck" 35%:35% (in fact only for the sensationalists, realiter neither of the 2 10%-AlbanianParties would take VMRO as CoalitionPartner).
