But he still wants the council to be Tory-controlled, apparently. Odd.

He sounds like a bit of a dickhead to be frank Northampton politics does come across as rather dysfunctional, tbh.

Well rid in that case. I despise jumping ship after deselection . It's so blatant and petulant!

Well rid in that case. I despise jumping ship after deselection . It's so blatant and petulant! Most will give another, dishonest reason, such as 'The party no longer stands for what I believe in' or such like. I don't mind the few that do deselect for this reason that state their reason for their defection honestly. Two UKIP candidates who stood in salford in 2014 stated they joined UKIP in order to increase their chances of being elected, which was refreshingly honest.

Indeed! It's the post-deselection ones which annoy me when they were happy enough to try and be selected by their original party

I note that the Shinners have made a statement about welcoming her onboard to deliver "radical change to Ireland's cities". If the radical change their chums made to Manchester Arndale and Warrington Gasworks is anything to go by, I don't fancy Ireland's chances.

Another subject but it will be fascinating to see how Sinn Fein handle government in the Republic if theye are able to form a left-led coalition. They appear to be moving towards becoming a more orthodoX left wing party but how much of their past comes with them awaits evidence

They appear to be moving towards becoming a more orthodoX left wing party but how much of their past comes with them awaits evidence I agree. It'll be interesting to see if they are forced to make decisions which are winners in Dublin and loathed in their heartlands in Louth and Kerry, and vice versa- and how they deal with them. And of course, if they do move towards being an orthodox left wing party, the single issue that SF fears the most will be back on the table.
