Paul Moss, deselected Labour councillor for North Reddish on Stockport Council, has announced he is to sit as an Independent, as he wishes to oppose building on Reddish Vale Park. I used to play on Reddish Vale and am opposed to any building on it and members of my family are in support of the campaign, but Cllr Moss's reasoning is, to say the least, disingenuous, given his recent deselection. Why didn't he quit before - this issue hase been hot for a while. Defector Paul Moss says that Stockport's Labour Leader is a "cancer" and likens him to Kim Jong Un. "I think he's sick" is the Labour Group Leader's response. www.mancunianmatters.co.uk/content/291071414-stockport-labour-leader-cancer-needs-be-cut-out-claims-councillor-who-quit-overWhen politics gets personal, civility can easily be lost. In some Councils, comments such as these can lead to misconduct charges. Oh! Misconduct charges! Scary!! Lets all be frightfully nice to each other shall we?

When did Carl Clark join the CPA? He was elected as Labour in 2011, and I can find an article relating to him quitting the party to sit as an independent ( link ) but nothing about joining the CPA. He must be the only CPA Cllr in the country?

Apparently Clark topped the CPA's list in the East of England region for May's Euro elections. He had an, uh, interesting campaign strategy... www.networkyarmouth.co.uk/Articles/403100/Network_Yarmouth/Action_Zones/Social_Action/Christian_Party_last.aspx

If they are counting parish/town councillors, they really are fucking desperate.
Or daft.
Or mad.
Delete as appropriate...

But seriously - I know some local parties find it hard to get candidates but for a winnable seat someone wHo later says he wasn't even a member and never really thought of himself as Labour should not be selected. And on top of that he holds the fringe nutter fundie views of the CPA!!!

I don't disagree- but I have much more dislike for the type of people who want to be councillors because it fits their social ambitions, and don't really have anything in the way of political ideology.

I wonder if the Berkshire Gauleiter himself is down there today. When I dipped into the site a couple of months ago the Party Leader, Mr Stott, was Chair of a branch in West Berkshire, it seems to have folded.
