Is it termed as 'defecting' if you are a member of a party without holding elected or any other office?
As he is quoted in another paper's report as the obligatory "Senior Member of UKIP" I suppose that it's worth pointing out that he's another 'senior member' that I suspect virtually nobody in the party has ever heard of as he's not senior nor obviously a member anymore.
It's probably also worth pointing out that there is no block, attempted or otherwise on UKIP members talking as much as they like about Hamas and Palestine so that's a load of old boll**ks for a start anyway.
I must admit that I've never noticed anyone in UKIP object to the words 'senior' or 'defection' when it is some minor party activist heading in their direction rather than away, so I think we can let them both stand in this case.

I presume that he will cease using his knighthood now until it's awarded from the Queen of Scots in an independent Scotland, rather than from a state that he believes means nothing anymore? But then again we've awaited the same from Seam Connery for some considerable time and yet nothing's happened. Probably to busy in his Bahamas bolt hole and paying no taxes in his 'beloved' Scotland to consider such trivial matters... As someone who doesn't believe in a head of state I find the whole physical awarding of honours rather perplexing as the monarch has no say in any but a mere handful. But at least I actually wish the state and honour would come from to continue to exist...

According to the Labour List web site Campbell is also a District Councillor. On checking he was re-elected in May this year for the East Retford West ward of Bassetlaw DC. His county council division's name is Retford West.

Forgive the arrogance of placing myself under the heading of "other notable". But I have defected. This was hard, if I am honest I was never really all that loyal. My dad was a great influence on me, he encouraged individualism, shunning football for athletics, my other influence was local identity, which led me to support East Fife. I have lived in Aberdeenshire for 33 years, two thirds of my life, I have not attended an East Fife match in that time, I have attended Aberdeen on occasion, Pittodrie on others, my wife's home town club of Deveronvale a few. I must now admit that I "support" Aberdeen FC. I shall attend at least once this season as a new supporter. Funnily enough I have seen East Fife more than any other team in the last decade and will probably pop along a couple of times this season although the usual boardroom divisions and internal strife might make that a might not.

Chris Neal, Cowden and Hever, Sevenoaks Do, Con to UKIP How lucky for them. A councillor barely attending meetings. A woeful 33% attendance in the last 12 months and it wasn't really better in the past.

What a dilly skagglegak he is.Such lack of self-awareness shows that UKIP will be well rid of him.

Roger Lord is now to lend his support to the LDs which he describes as leaving politics for a while, so he got something right.

Leaving, I think, the Conservatives with a majority of one.
