Richard Grayson? He left the Lib Dems a few months back and had an article on the Guardian website today saying he'd joined Labour. Also the PPC for Hemel Hempstead in 2005 and 2010. I'm sure he'll feel very at home. He'd been semi detached for a long time.

Very pleased that Grayson has joined us. I think he will have a lot to offer Labour.

Barwell. Used to be a Labour ward.....I do wonder how some of the clearly left-wing LD's can stand it.

All very odd. I fail to see how Nattrass couldn't have been aware of, or involved in the drafting of the statement - or that there wasn't any negotiation and agreement that resulted in the creation of the statement in the first place...

[quote/]Councillor deselected, discovers he is in the wrong party - shock/horror! Perhaps the selectors decided he was in the wrong party, deselected him, and he later realised they were correct?

You may be right on that one, but you would agree that there seems to be a pattern in defections, from whoever and to whoever, that follow deselections.

Don't know the story behind this but 7 of the 15 Conservative councillors on Dumfries and Galloway council have left the Conservative group and set up a rival group . Perhaps one of our Scottish posters can explain .

Yes I knew about it! He was suspended sine die by the Labour Party for allegedly not supporting their candidate (Azhar Ali, now their parliamentary candidate) in the County Council elections; indeed allegedly voting for another candidate ie the Liberal Democrat! He has been sitting as an Independent since then. The grapevine is that his daughter pushed him into joining the Tories.
He has not been known to speak in the Council since being elected in 2012.
