Sorry, my bad, it was just those two. I saw a Facebook post by a county councillor talking about defections as if they had just happened, but she's messages me to say it was Bence and Markwell she was talking about.

Stockport, Marple South & High Lane (2026). Aron Thornley, Liberal Democrat to Independent. Gosh, what is this about? Apologies if this has been noted since, but he is now with Labour. When he originally left the Lib Dems, he claimed it was due to political restrictions in a job (or so Mark Hunter said at the time).

Mansfield, Newlands Forest Town (2027). Sidney Walker, Mansfield Independents to Reform UK Back to Independent. Very impressive!!! Since his election 17 months ago, Sidney’s managed to change his allegiance twice!! Is this our first councillor defection FROM Reformuk? Just beginning to feel a bit like the UKIP story.

Oh no, he's now Independent (Unattached)
Meanwhile:
Flintshire, Northop (2027). Marion Bateman, Independent to Independent (Unattached) Flintshire, Northop (2027). Linda Thew, Independent to Non Aligned.
In, out, shake it all about. The website has now reallocated even more councillors between Independent, Independent (Unattached), True Independents, and Non Aligned. I'm not sure whether whoever updates the website knows which is which. Perhaps the councillors don't either. I'm not going to keep reporting them unless an actual party defection pops up. But for the record the council is now: 29 Labour, 13 Independent, 6 Eagle, 6 True Independents, 5 Flintshire People's Voice, 3 Independent (Unattached), 3 Liberal Democrats, 1 Conservative, 1 Non Aligned.
Aberdeenshire, Troup (2027). Mark Findlater, Conservative to Independent.
Late to this but on Flintshire the number of independent groups is subject to change at any particular moment. There have been offshoots of pretty much all of the groups, seems to be mainly Labour leaning councillors turn at the moment. It isn't exactly great for a council with financial issues to have this many independent groups and some of us are working for some more stability. The Conservative probably feels a little left out but would find it difficult to split their group.

They could do with updating their website, heavens it's outdated. I've counted Labour 29; Independent 13; True Independents 7; Eagle 6; Flintshire People's Voice 5; LibDem 3; Unattached Independent 2; Non aligned 1; Conservative 1.

Kirklees, Dewsbury West (2026). Ammar Anwar, Kirklees Community Independent Group (elected as Labour) to Independent. According to today's Examiner Jo Lawson, Crosland Moor & Netherton, has also left the KCI Group (she was leader) however she's still listed under the Group on the Council website.

I think she resigned as leader, but she is (still) in the KCI group.
