Kenneth Dobson (ind., Clayton and Openshaw, Manchester) is listed on the council website as no longer a councillor.
This would fit with it being a non-attendance disqualification, given the attendance record on the site.
(He took the seat off Labour in a by-election in February this year, after coming a close second in 2019. Since then, his social media has been full of 5G/plandemic/freeman-on-the-land conspiracy nonsense. He was also a Lib Dem councillor for the old City Centre ward, pre-coalition.)

I don't think there's been a council meeting since March, and in any case I think Manchester suspended the six month rule. My current money is on some freeman-on-the-land shenanigans having accidentally resulted in him quitting.

I fully agree, I suspect some freeman-bollox legalese letter from him to the council has been interpreted as a resignation.

I wasn't aware of that. There's quite a bloc in South East London with Peter Bottomley already mentioned having represented Eltham initially and we have Harriet Harman (Mrs Jack Dromey) just the other side of Lewisham of course And also Ellie Reeves (taking over Lewisham West from Jim Dowd) married to John Cryer (Leyton and Wanstead). But their constituency are in the same region. Julie Kirkbride (Bromsgrove) and Andrew McKay (Bracknell) once upon a time.

You can Google the sort of pseudo-legal stuff they say/write- there's so much out there that it's impossible to include it here.

I have now read the "Freeman on the Land" stuff on Wikipedia, but how does that relate to the councillor who has resigned? People are referring to him as if there is something weird or ambiguous about his resignation letter. What did he actually write? Do we even know?

It's to do with how they think there's a separate legal contract/identity 'strawman' to which taxes etc. are billed, which they can declare dead. If he had the money to pay for it, it'd make for a very entertaining court case. However, he didn't vote in the budget meeting earlier in the year, which indicates he's probably up to his neck in council tax debt and more, that he is convinced he can nullify. (Council tax arrears bar a councillor from voting on the budget.)

Longlisted for Ealing North in 2019 A cynic might imagine that the two things are related.

Has to be said that when most consider the Labour party in Islington ("Jeremy Corbyn's backyard", as we were constantly reminded in his time as leader - complete with much inaccurate stereotyping) "racist" probably isn't the first word that comes to mind?

The racist claims seem to have been directed more at Head Office - the invitation to a Conference having Somalia underneath her address - the complaints about Islington seem to have been about a misogynistic culture in the Group, not allowing her to speak etc.

I was thinking the same. A cynic might observe that thankfully Ms. Ismail didn't encounter racism when she was vetted and approved for the panel of candidates, was selected to fight a ward, was elected by her constituents to the council, was elected as Mayor etc. etc.

Just looked at the Islington website. I notice there's another independent- Gary Poole. What's the story there? I don't remember seeing that defection.
(I'm using the web version on my phone and have limited search functionality).
