Well they are now members of the respective Conservative groups and the party. Whether they have become "Tories" we will find out in due course... So far there has not been a single policy or (British or Pendle) political reason given for the defections.
(Pakistani tribal politics; used by personal ambitions of one man; used by local Conservatives with - should I say - a lack of scruples). They are also hoping to get at least one more Asian defector (not from us) to give them control of Pendle BC.

It's the bottom end of Albany Road which along with City Road are the two main roads in the Ward.
I'm afraid the Church is now (and has been for a long time now) a cheap household store.

I lived in Arrabella Street, Roath park 75-77, Neuadd Meiryonydd, Heath Hospital 77-80. The girlfriend (now ex wife) lived on Bangor street, almost but not quite visible in the pic.

Cllr Gurpal Virdi, Cranford ward of LB of Hounslow from Labour to Ind. Interesting history, I wonder if that has anything to do with his defection. Ex met police officer, assault allegation, suspension from party then reinstated.

Leon Spence (Leicestershire county councillor for Whitwick division), elected for Labour, left in September 2016 to be an Independent, has joined the Tories.
I think that makes him the first principal local authority councillor from Labour who has done as urged by Momentum and joined the Tories.
EDIT: Now I think about it there was Claire Jeffrey in Shepway as well.

And they will just feel proven correct by it.....
Seriously, your wing of the party should thank their lucky stars no "moderate" Labour MPs have crossed the floor yet.
(despite rumoured juicy inducements to do so)

And your wing of the party should take note of how few Labour moderates have actually defected despite such "juicy inducements", the abysmal leadership and pathetic polling.
Perhaps some of the left will think again about their lazy stereotypes about those in Progress or Labour First.

"My wing of the party" (which has, of course, never been pro-Corbyn) is never happy to lose people from whichever section for whatever reason.
As for your last comment, I will certainly agree that Labour First at least are super-tribally loyal (the clue is in the name, maybe)

You two are on different wings of the party? Really? This is interesting, I assumed you were on more or less the same wing ( The Bishop's dislike of Progress aside). What wings do you identify with or see the other as being in?

EDIT: Now I think about it there was Claire Jeffrey in Shepway as well. Well, go read his Twitter account and you'll probably wonder why he was ever in Labour Party. Also, his post about the defection seems mainly to be about NW Leics District Labour Group position on the travellers campground in 2013 and him liking Theresa May.
