Not sure if this is connected to the above poll, but makes for interesting reading. Given all the Russian ties and the Ukraine situation, I dont understand how a Johnson government is still ahead on Defence/Terrorism, but there you go! Another concern for both major parties should be the huge "either or dont know" percentages. Starmer is benefitting from Johnson being finally revealed as being...Johnson, but he still isnt cutting through in a positive way! /photo/1
Also delighted to see the lowest Tory vote is on "inequality". Seems like the people just arent falling for all the "leveling up" BS

It will take a lot to shift the normal perception that Conservatives are strong on defence and Labour (Lib Dems and Greens too, to some extent) not very interested and too ready to see the Other Side's point of view. I tend to agree that this is a field where the current Conservative party is very poor on its traditional areas of concern, but if anything the Ukraine crisis has shown the govt trying to step up to the plate and FWIW I think Ben Wallace has been doing a decent job, IMO more impressive than either the current or previous Foreign Secs.

Would be interesting, if anyone knows whether it’s been polled, in what order of importance those issues are - the debate in the Democratic Party currently is they’re leading on all the issues - the environment, employment rights - that hardly anyone ranks as important. I seem to recall that throughout his leadership Kinnock hardly, if ever, led on the economic competence question.

In particular the last Foreign Secretary but two, who was a laughing stock the World over..

Apparently Opinium have conducted a 'snap' poll today and will be releasing the results at some point this evening.

Not sure that poll was worth it! I may prove to be wrong, and something really different comes out, but I feel that public opinion may not shift much more on this. Something the police do might shift opinion a bit, but I think minds are made up now.

Talk about a poll tweet written in very bad English, I initially read it as 62% want him to resign and 26% don't want him to stay in his job.

So all the hoo-hah over this futile Gray Report has immediately resulted in a 1% shift in favour of Johnson remaining as PM. Good result. Like it.

Something the police do might shift opinion a bit, but I think minds are made up now. But surely it is not good news for Johnson or the Tories if that is the case? It is also far from impossible that the PMs disgraceful performance yesterday may have lost him a few more friends.

Typists/collators/photocopiers/circulators PM and his intimate advisors Certain police officers The redactors Those advising the redactors on what to redact having first read it And inevitably others Genuine question: Are you saying that the PM has seen the final report? A less than genuine one: Who are the PM's 'intimate advisors'? Just imagine their overtime bill.

So do I. 62% think he should resign, yet Tory MPs are keeping him in place! Splendid stuff It is like saying "vote for us! Our leader is a cockroach! Everyone loves cockroaches!"

It appears the next Opinium survey due out tomorrow will feature a reworked methodology (its mainly about how "don't knows" are treated)

Opinium only had a 5% Labour lead 2 weeks ago so it will be interesting to see if that reduces at all tonight with this change.
