I would hesitate to draw any sweeping conclusions from ComRes, tbh.

Apparently ComRes are testing a UKIP prompt by using a split sample, not clear if the headline results will use the UKIP prompted or unprompted sample.

Very interesting poll, full details here comres.co.uk/poll/1293/sunday-mirror-independent-on-sunday-poll.htmNoticing the one percent increase in the Green vote when UKIP were prompted for I wonder if this is due to one percent of respondents looking at the question and thinking 'hey they're prompting for UKIP' then thinking 'wait a minute they haven't prompted for the Greens at the same time - that's not fair the Greens have had an MP for ages, Goddammit I'm voting Green!'

Do you have that figure for the Green voters? ComRes haven't given a headline figure for that but you can find the data tables in the link I gave.

Maybe some people think they shouldn't mention UKIP or Green regardless of their true support for them because they think the pollsters who don't prompt for them don't want to receive a response other than Lib Lab and Con. ... And thus the prompting for UKIP here provides them with the greater confidence to mention the Greens.

In the past prompting for parties outwith the big three has sometimes artificially inflated their support, but UKIP are polling way outside the normal range for 'other' parties. It's difficult to truly know.

Just thought it was an interesting by product.
