It looks like 14 council by-elections during August:
* 3 on 02 August
* 1 on 09 August
* 3 on 16 August
* 6 on 23 August
* 1 on 30 August
6 of the by-elections are for District Councils where the last elections were in 2015, including 2 single member seats
3 are for Unitary Authorities last contested in 2017, 2 are in England and 1 in Wales
1 is for a County Council last contested in 2017
3 are in Metropolitan Boroughs last contested in May and
1 is for a Unitary Authority last contested in May
Conservatives are defending 8 seats, 7 following the resignation of the previous councillor and 1 disqualification for non-attendance
Labour is defending 4 seats, 1 following a death and 3 resignations
Liberal Democrats defend 2 seats, 1 from a death and 1 a resignation
With all nominations now known:
Conservatives are contesting all 14, Labour 13, Liberal Democrats 11, Green 5, UKIP 3, Plaid Cymru 1 with 7 Independents contesting 5 seats
- a total of 54 candidates for the 14 seats.
