It's like the Dutch have come over all British or something.

The increase in support for VVD/PvdA is quite something. Really surprised that 2-party government is possible. The fantastic Google election results thing is also available: www.google.nl/elections/ed/nl/results?hl=en

This has been quite the year for hard left paper tigers.

Thinking of alternate possible coalitions...
PvdA + SP + CDA + D66 = 80 (theoretically, easier than a grand coalition) VVD + PVV + CDA + D66 = 79 (unlikely due to need for PVV) VVD + CDA + D66 + CU + SGP + 50+ = 76 (this seems the only viable coalition for VVD without either PvdA or PVV)

D66 and SGP in the same coalition? Hah.
Anyways, Wim Kok led a purple coalition for eight years, so it's not exactly impossible. Of course things were a bit different then.

If accurate, VVD/PvdA could form a two-party grand coalition. The PvdA/SP/GL alliance would be 17 short of a majority. D66 would likely be in a oalition like that, but still 5 short so could see a Grand Coalition?

I suppose the hilariously awful result for the CDA deserve to be mentioned by someone.

I suppose the hilariously awful result for the CDA deserve to be mentioned by someone. 2010 was already their worst result ever, and they've lost around a third of their seats since then...

The first projection based upon actual votes counted so far is expected in five minutes. I think we could still see some movement to the smaller parties, perhaps a 'shy voter' effect in the exit polls.

And there were some really weird questions, e.g. closing coffee shops Cannabis. Oh! If I had realised it meant that, my answer might have been different

I hadn't realised that South East Amsterdam formed a detached part of Amsterdam. Is that a recent development?

The small northern island of Schiermonnikoog is the first to declare it's final result. Apparently there's a significant swing to the SGP, though in terms of the island's population, a significant swing is perhaps ten voters...
EDIT: Actually, no. It's up from 4 to 65, that is quite impressive. Perhaps they had a candidate from there on their list this time. ;D
