The polls now have Akşener collapsing and the opposition consolidating behind İnce. It still looks like there will be a run-off.

On a not unrelated note, Mesut Özil and Gundogan are apparently shocked that German fans are booing them for kissing Erdo's arse.

As long as Ince or Aksener come second there is a possibility. On the downside, Erdogan must sense this, and is likely to be particularly unhinged in the next 3 weeks... Ince did call Erdogan a "White Turk" so i not convinced he going to be a lot better.

Wasn't the context that Istanbul born Erdogan just plays "the Anatolian card" as man of the people even if he is urban middle class? İnce self-identify as a White Turk (educated, secular, progressive, coastal etc.). It's not a slur.

Don,t think a uk mp would get away with it but its gives the EU a headache if he does win because he really does want Turkey to join the EU.

White Turk doesn't refer to race (it's coined as a parallel to WASP, but only in the "educated coastal elite" sense). It's a secular, educated, urban Turk from the coast and the opposite of a Black Turk (a conservative, religious Turk from the interior Anatolia).

White Turk doesn't refer to race Although in the military-elite many look(ed) - according to journalist P.SchollLatour - very European (probably descendants of the yeniceri, Christian boys taken from the Balkan).

In EarlyVoting abroad a low participation is reported in Austria (although AKP is working hard to bring its voters to the PollingStations; additionally ÖVP&FPÖ have closed 7 mosques, what naturally infuriated the Erdogan-people), while a high one in SwitzerLand. Interestingly the majority 2011 was for AKP in Austria and for HDP in SwitzerLand; referendum 2015: SwitzerLand 62% NO, Austria 74% YES. Of course, only a very small part of the electorate, but perhaps a first indication (besides the large rallies of Ince), that the Turks do also not like SnapElections (plus the current CurrencyCrisis, plus a tiredness of elections [or even of Erdogan])?

Ince has staged a few final rallies which have attracted huge crowds; in Izmir (should do here as it is a CHP stronghold), Istanbul and Ankara. Some unofficial polling (Polls are technically banned 10 days prior to the election) has Erdogan in the 47-53 range, the latter being what a Turkish tv station posted in a "results" programme. The AKP meanwhile are polling in the mid to low 40's with all eyes on whether the HDP finish below 10% thereby gifting a load of seats to the AKP.
In order to assist this task the Law have been arresting all the HDP ballot box observers presumably off lists supplied by the Turkish election authorities.
A pretty neutral source in the newspaper Ahval has been surveying the South East and the feeling is that the Kurdish vote could be crucial. The smart money is on the AKP to get a kicking, especially in Van, Diyabakir and what remains of Sur however ballot box stuffing and disappearing polling stations may suppress the HDP vote.

The polls have now closed. But there is a ban on publishing both results and exit polls for the next four hours.
Three people have died in a fight at a polling station in Erzurum province, the provincial leader of IYI were reportedly among them.
