Three contests this week - all Conservative defences - a battle with the SNP in Scotland and two Con-LD marginals in England:
PERTH & KINROSS, Highland (Conservative died)
Candidates:
BAKYAL, Denise (Independent)
DUFF, John Cameron (Conservative)
KELLAS, John (SNP)
McDOUGALL, Mary (Green)
RAMAGE, Jayne (Labour)
RENNIE, Chris (Liberal Democrats)
TAYLOR, Avril (Independent)
2017: Con 1927; SNP 815, 734: Ind 449; Grn 168; LD 148 (IND gain 1 from SNP)
2012: SNP 1141, 527; Con 825; Ind 313, 286; LD 215; Lab 141
2011 by: SNP 1449; Con 596; LD 321; Ind 269, 27 (SNP hold)
2008 by: SNP 1891; Con 940; LD 229; Lab 97 (SNP hold)
2007: SNP 1489, 1150; Con 1158; LD 609; Ind 115
The Green stood in 2017. The LD stood as an independent in 2011 by-election and got 27 votes. Conservatives, as it turned out, undernominated last year and got almost 2 quotas, their surplus plus transfers from Greens and Lib Dems helped the Indy overtake the second SNP candidate.
WARRINGTON, Lymm South (Conservative died)
Candidates:
ASHINGTON, Derek James (UKIP)
COCKAYNE, Trish (Labour)
FRADGLEY, Anna Maria Margaret (Liberal Democrats)
TAYLOR, Stephen Howard (Conservative)
WASS, Michael Andrew (Green)
2016: Con 925, 879; LD 780, 668: Lab 466; UKIP 233
The Labour candidate in 2016 was a David COCKAYNE. The UKIP candidate also stood in 2016 and several times for the old Lymm ward. The old Lymm ward was split 2 LDs and 1 Con from its creation in 2004 until the Conservatives took one of the LD seats in the last election in 2014, but the LDs took all 3 seats in Lymm North and Thelwall in 2016, so I’m guessing this contains the more Conservative bits of Lymm.
WEST BERKSHIRE, Thathcham West (Conservative disqualified for non-attendance)
Candidates:
BROOKS, Jeff (Liberal Democrat)
COULSON, Louise Harriet (Labour)
CRUMLY, Ellen Mary (Conservative)
JOHNSON, Gary Edward (UKIP)
LIVERMORE, Jane Elisabeth (Green)
2015: Con 1493, 1455; LD 1208, 1133; Lab 423, 251
2011: LD 932, 891; Con 771, 698; Lab 207; Ind 137
2007: LD 960, 957; Con 837, 797
2003: LD 760, 758; Con 443, 411
The Lib Dem candidate is one of the former councillors from (at least) 2003 who lost his seat in 2015.
