It takes one to know one I guess. My issue isn't a lack of knowledge about US politics, more a lack of basic reasoning skills, critical thinking and general intelligence. There's a reason I post on this forum all day - it's because I lack the reasoning abilities to get an actual job. Why do you think I got a 62 in Finals? Maybe I should do something about all of that, but it's easier to post on this website looking for attention all day long than actually fix things. You have to love the internet for its potential for escapism. I think you once said I shouldn't go into journalism - deleted my old account over that, but you were spot on. I didn't mean that as an insult. Your articles are pretty good - you can write. Just that it's a declining, insecure, badly paid profession. You aren't stupid. You need more polish and focus and to not feel sorry for yourself. Not more brains. It felt pretty insulting after I'd spend a year and £10k doing a journalism course. I mean, it was correct, but it was hard to hear at the time. I clearly am stupid based on all my posts about the US election. Also inability to get a real job - that feels pretty indicative of stupidity.

Also inability to get a real job - that feels pretty indicative of stupidity. Many people have made much greater mistakes in life than a masters they don't use. That's chicken feed. I assure you again that calling yourself stupid is both wrong and counterproductive - it's the wrong attitude. You've got a bruised ego, and aren't used to struggling before this period of your life. The answer isn't to give up, and call yourself a loser or stupid or whatever. We've all been there. If you are finding opportunities tough, fine tune applications to multiple areas and use that writing ability to sell yourself. Statistically you will win if you apply yourself and focus. But make sure the tone is right. I think that is something you are prone to getting wrong and reacting emotionally when it involves yourself (not in your articles). You are either overly secure or overly insecure. Calm down and apply yourself and you will succeed.

A broken clock is right twice a day; given the sheer volume of polls Rasmussen does he’s bound to get one right, and he’s actually understated both Sheehy and Tester by a couple of percent which I’m guessing means he’s overestimated the third party candidate. Very few pollsters squeeze the undecided numbers down to zero. It is generally accepted that a pollster giving figures of 50-44 is spot on if the result is 53-47 or 52-46.

For what it’s worth I haven’t found your posts on the U.S. elections or the analysis stupid, plenty of thought has clearly gone into a lot of it I did think your insistence throughout that Harris was going to win in a landslide, the Democrats would retain the Senate etc did seem like getting carried away with your own desired outcome, but you wouldn’t be alone in that. By staying neutral with these things I always avoid predictions!

Pennsylvania’s Senate race is still counting?
“DecisionDeskHQ, an arm of The Hill, reported 88,235 provisional, mail-in, overseas and military ballots still uncounted as of 5 p.m. Tuesday. That broke down like this: 66,176 provisionals, 8,684 mail-ins and 13,375 overseas and military”
Some provisionals apparently have been counted. By my estimation, that cut McCormick’s lead over Casey to 22k.

Yes-much too large for a recount even at US Senate level. Incidentally, the House of Representatives still has not finished counting and there is still an outside chance the Democrats could gain it, albeit only by 1 seat. It is shocking but not surprising that it still only has 435 members, despite the US population at the last census (2020) being approximately 331.4 million. According to the "cube root law" as has often been discussed on this forum, there should be (taking geographical factors into account and the need for each US state to have at least one congressional district) 695 seats in the House of Representatives now. By my calculations (extra congressional wages, security costs and administrative costs) an increase of 260 seats would only cost each American taxpayer an extra $4 per year at most in federal taxes. It is not a lot to ask, really, for better representation, given that most American congressional districts have to serve over 700,000 people each at present. The House increased in size with increased population and increased number of states until the 1920s, when legislation was passed to fix it at 435. Otherwise, it would have continued getting bigger and bigger forever, outgrowing the chamber, and becoming unmanagable. Anybody seen The Republican Congress' debating chamber in Star Wars? The House does occassionally go over 325 when a new state acceeds, but at the new redistricting it goes back down to 325.

Closest Pennsylvania Senate race since 1956.
Is the arithmetic there for Democrats?
Dave McCormick leads by around 26k.
We have 80.5k votes to count.
Casey needs to win them by 2-1.
Provisionals have been 61% Casey.
That's just from what I've seen.
So yes, Casey has a shot.

Given that he’s accepted the nomination indicates he’s not interested in replacing DeSantis in two years.

Despite the high turnover there was a handful that lasted the full time in his previous administration like Steve Mnuchin and Ben Carson. A couple like Elaine Chao and Betsy DeVos only resigned at the tail end due to January 6th

Pennsylvania is an automatic recount as opposed to requested by Casey Speaking of recounts, one has also been called for in Iowa's 1st congressional district; Republican Congresswoman Marianette Miller-Weeks' final margin was 802 votes (0.2%).

Jon Tester's performance sticks out here. Still, Amy Klobuchar utterly dominated Minnesota. More Democratic-aligned independents ought to run. It might help their Senate chances.

Susan Collins running for sixth term. Not sure Golden would oppose her Maine's 1st Democrat Chellie Pingree might.Harris won the Pine Tree State. Still, it was a 6% win. Slightly better than Clinton's 2016 win.
