CNN have called it for Latimer - Bowman will not be the Democratic nominee for NY-16. AIPAC spent $10 million to dislodge him and it's paid off. The first Squad member has lost their primary since Marie Newman got shafted by redistricting and lost to Sean Casten in 2022. Three-termer AOC has won her primary easily. We're well and truly getting into the knockout stages now with wrong-un Bob Good losing in Virginia last week and now this. The sound you can hear is Squad member Cori Bush squirming in her seat in St Louis. AIPAC and DMFI (iirc) will be putting everything into getting rid of her and Ilhan Omar now that Bowman's done.

Very good night for the moderate wings of both parties.

New York progressives will cope and seethe after Bowman's defeat, but they have a decent chance of Mondaire Jones getting back into Congress in NY-17. Most of the new NY-16 is Mount Vernon and White Plains in Westchester County, with a sliver of the Bronx, so Bowman's black progressive firebrand image is toxic in the former and not the latter. It's one really the inner city areas that like these progressive cranks. Brutal game, politics. You win by the sword and you die by it.

Lawler is a strong candidate, and Jones has made some comments and past views that are going to haunt him, despite the fact that he’s larping as a moderate now.

Jones is better than Sean Patrick Maloney who fumbled the House majority as DCCC Chair, but it's New York so we won't know who'll win NY-17 until 2030.

New York massively improved their counting since 2020, now it’s only the west coast states (because being a West Coast Dems these days seems to mean extreme incompetence) and to a lesser extent PA, NV, and AZ.

The West Coast states are going to be a bunch of shitshows, so we probably won’t officially know who’s going to control Congress (and the WA gubernatorial election) unless one of the parties win in a blowout. We probably won’t have the results for AZ,NV as well unless Trump is going win in both by more than 4-5%.

Unpopular opinion alert: AIPAC spent $10 million on defeating Bowman so an 11-point win is actually not that great for Latimer, IMHO. the Israel lobby should put more effort into anticipating things like Oct 7th than meddling in elections to the extent they do. Give that $100 million AIPAC is spending against the Squad (IIRC) to the IDF and tighten up the security on the border with Gaza instead of going after working class Black and brown members of Congress. I hope Biden gets to replace Clarence Thomas and Chief Justice John Roberts so they can strike down Citizens United v FEC. We need revamped McCain - Feingold campaign finance regulation.

Latimer is leading by 17% (with only Westchester remaining, so it’s going to expand), not 11%…

Citizens United was obviously a bad decision, but I’d rather have Trump winning and replacing Thomas, Alito, and Roberts because the Dems are culturally toxic for me (and Trump’s judges are saner than Thomas and Alito).

I'd like to see President Biden replace Justice Clarence Thomas with one Barack Hussain Obama. I have the Senate going 50-50 in November so it's very possible.

Never underestimate progressives' ability to drop the bell anywhere and everywhere, and all of the time.

Never underestimate progressives' ability to drop the bell anywhere and everywhere, and all of the time. Never underestimate NYDems’ ability to be awful. The state is probably going to experience the strongest pro-Trump swing in America, and it’s mostly down to the NYDem brand being increasingly toxic with moderates (of all colours).
