I think it all happened at the start of page 2 - obviously restricting the elections this week, so all were south of the Thames, was too much for some people, but absolutely nothing to do with railways for once. An interesting little diversion though and I'll put my hand up and admit some responsibility too. Four interesting by elections in their own right though and I'm sure there will be lots to say about them when the results come flooding in. Almost... Decades ago on my frequent trips from Kent to Suffolk it was a level crossing and station on the then open Buntingford branch. Re-open the Buntingford branch now. Benjl insists and I support him!

ok, the railways are now firmly on track. Are there railway issues in Kent. Surrey , Hampshire or Devon?

ok, the railways are now firmly on track. Are there railway issues in Kent. Surrey , Hampshire or Devon? Well Torrington's station opened in 1872 and closed as part of the 'rationalisation' that that nice Mr Beeching proposed to the government of the day in 1965. But if you want to get into full railway debate, wait for next week's election in Barnstaple, which was once Devon's answer to Crewe, and is sadly now on the end of a long cul-de-sac. There won't be much else to discuss in that week.

Will be very interested to see the Gosport result, heard that we've thrown a fair bit at it, but where that will get us from a standing start is anyone's guess!

For those who have read Andrew's preview, I am now trying to work out how one could possibly produce a sexually explicit photo of oneself dressed as a mouse.
Now I think of it, my brother works for Disney, perhaps I should ask him, it is the sort of thing he probably ought to be ready to come down on like a ton of bricks.

It is the largest settlement in the country without a station and by far the largest with no railway at all.
