Hello every one.
I'm a french guy from north of France, reader of your forum for a couple of years. I'm mostly interested in irish (north & south) politics but I'm quite enjoying your different points of view on international (and french) elections.
I'm a member of a small leftist party (and actually I've seen some funny - but not always positive - comments on my "school of thought" which is chevènementisme), le Mouvement des Citoyens (which was created in 1993, changed its name in 2005 into Mouvement Républicain et Citoyen but there was a split this year from both members of parliament and close to a thousand members to re-found MDC). I'm also a member (with the same username) of an equivalent french forum some of you have linked to in some cases (politiquemania - I might help you understand some of our debates! ).

Hi all! I've lurked on this site (and others like UKPR) for a while now, and thought it was about time for me to make an account. I like how this site talks about elections that just aren't covered in any detail elsewhere. The EU referendum sparked my interest in politics, and if there was any danger of that I put paid to it by taking Government and Politics as an A-level (along with Biology and Chemistry). I'm hopefully going to university this year, but until then I'm based in Sheffield. I have quite a few interests outside politics, the main one being natural history. Hopefully some of my contributions will be interesting!

Interested in all sorts - I suppose my favourites would be reptiles and amphibians (although definitely not in abundance over here!), followed by plants

Also, welcome to the forum hallamshire. Advice for uni: don't leave your most brainless flatmate alone with the toaster. We did that and she set fire to the whole kitchen and we all had to be evacuated (some members may already have seen this story on Facebook). Second piece of advice, don't go for catered accommodation. The food will almost certainly be inedible.

A lot of people seem to think that a separate Maths thread as suggested by finsobruce would be a good idea- it certainly seems to have taken over the introduction thread which may be a bit odd for people actually wanting to introduce themselves. Trouble is, we would need these Maths posts transferred to the new thread and that might require the services of a mod....

I'm taking this post and a few others as enthusiasm for a new maths thread, so will set up (see what I did there) and transfer over as necessary.
