Second piece of advice, don't go for catered accommodation. The food will almost certainly be inedible. Things not changed much from my first university year in halls, then. Apparently not. The garlic pizza I had the other night was simultaneously burnt and undercooked. I can't wait to get my kitchen back

Also, welcome to the forum hallamshire . Advice for uni: don't leave your most brainless flatmate alone with the toaster. We did that and she set fire to the whole kitchen and we all had to be evacuated (some members may already have seen this story on Facebook). Second piece of advice, don't go for catered accommodation. The food will almost certainly be inedible. Thanks! I'm a massive cheapskate so I'm not planning on going into catered anyway, they tell me it's outgrown its reputation recently but you never can be sure...

The other benefit of avoiding catered is you get to decide when to have your meals. If you develop a weird sleep schedule (as I did due to a mix of mainly afternoon lectures and a lot of nights out shifting my sleep a few hours forward), it's handy to be able to choose when to eat. My situation is weird because it's an Oxford college - you can get food in Hall if you want, but it costs almost as much as eating anywhere else, and the quality is poor. I've eaten there about six times in two years.

Any particular field/s of natural history? Interested in all sorts - I suppose my favourites would be reptiles and amphibians (although definitely not in abundance over here!), followed by plants Welcome! Good to have another natural historian here.

To the extent that he recognised and greeted me like a long lost friend 15 years later.

I was (and still am) a loyalist to Solomon's I'm afraid, since my college is north of the city centre, and he also gave me a free kebab after my phone got stolen at one point. I expect he'll recognise me in a few years as well.

hi im Zac, how are you all? and what are your political persuasions? Hello Zac. If you're asking the entire forum, all I can say is that if we post, we're well enough to do so and we've got nearly every political persuasion under the sun here. How about you?

Good afternoon. Hengo here. Lurked as a visitor for quite a while. Not politically active but right leaning I suppose, if that is still a reasonable way of categorising people.

hi im Zac, how are you all? and what are your political persuasions? I'm OK thank you. My real name's Alastair or Ali for short. I am a mix of a left-libertarian, democratic socialist, eco socialist and a slither of social conservatism on some issues. I currently support the Labour Party, but whether I continue to support them is dependent on the result of the Labour leadership election. Many of the Tories on here would assert that I am a damned communist, but don't listen to them.
