This is as good a place as any to welcome back swanarcadian, I suppose. What was that line of the Eagles again? Ah yes, "you can check out any time, but you can never leave"

Ah yes, "you can check out any time, but you can never leave" Also: "I've got seven women on my mind, four they want own me, two they want to stone me, one says she's a friend of mine." Or maybe that's just me.

It's good to be back in the parish after some personal, domestic and medical upheaval these past five months. That general election couldn't have come at a worse time. I had convinced myself my days of political observation were permanently over and that I had more important things to worry about, but it has proved as much a part of me as my blood group.

Hello, I've been frequently viewing this site for a while so just thought I'd join to get a few questions off my chest.

Hello, I've been frequently viewing this site for a while so just thought I'd join to get a few questions off my chest. Welcome! What are your questions? Tell me about the thinking behind your username. What are you a beast at? Is Bedfordshire where you were born or do you live there or were you both born there and still live there currently?

Hello jigger, to address your questions
I've lived in Beds for most of my life and still feel some affinity for the place although have recently moved to London.
Beast clearly comes from Denis Skinner, I'm just the blue version.
And as for my questions, all will be revealed in good time (meaning when I can actually be bothered).

Hi all,
I'm a new member here. I'm an overseas Brit doing a PhD in Sweden, though originally from idyllic Shropshire (hence the avatar). As to political leanings, well I'd describe myself as a Wet, socially liberal, economically conservative and a eurosceptic europhile.

Probably like me: likes Europe, doesn't like the EU. His self-description is everything I couldn't fit into my own avatar motto.

As to political leanings, well I'd describe myself as a Wet, socially liberal, economically conservative and a eurosceptic europhile. You wanted to Remain and Leave? Haha. I find the EU incredibly annoying on many many levels. I'm a remainer on balance though. I'm skeptical about the economic reasons for leaving and that it's probably best to be in the tent pissing out. I also think there is a strong case for remaining for peace and for cultural reasons. I've also benefited greatly from FoM. I'm a Brit living in Sweden with a Spanish boyfriend completing his PhD in the UK. I also have scientific collaborations with people in 7 other EU countries which are made a lot easier by shared access to grants, though full disclosure, I also have a collaborator in Russia so it wouldn't be impossible otherwise. But it does make life a hell of a lot easier.

I too would describe myself as a eurosceptic that voted to remain but perhaps for different reasons.

Hi, I'm Simon. The interesting work done by people in the Boundaries sub-forum is what brought me here. I'm a university student doing politics interested in research around all things boundaries
