Apologies if we've had this and I missed it (people always seem to jump on anyone who does that); Hampshire County Council Liphook, Headley and Grayshott - Mrs Floss Mitchell, Conservative to Independent. I gather that Adam Carew voted against the Tories over cuts today - I do not want to see him back in the LibDems.

He's certainly that. I understand that there are plenty of legitimate reasons why people switch parties, but to do so a few weeks after your party has worked hard for your re-election - and paid the costs of the campaign - is unacceptable in my view.

Rozenburg's defection doesn't really hurt the Tory majority in Barnet, now: 37 Con, 25 Lab, 1 LD (unless I've missed any other defections).

Gabriel Rozenburg (Garden Suburb, Barnet) CON --> LDEM Rozenberg with a Z is not the usual spelling of that surname (that would be Rosenberg). I presume he's related to legal correspondent Joshua Rozenberg. I have a friend here whose family name was Rosenberg, but which at some stage got shortened to Rowe, giving a misleading hint of Cornish ancestry. As it happens, Rowe was my mother's maiden name, so we had a giggle about people assuming we might be related. She also had the distinctly Old Testament - and hence Hebrew - name of Ruth, a name we have bestowed on my daughter. With a wife called Sarah and a son called David, you might then add 2 and 2, but you'd get 5

As someone who served on the council at the same time as her. She would probably be a more prominent figure than Rarely Seen Roger, but would be a worse constituency MP, she didn't do casework or meetings where she wasn't in the limelight etc. Argue with the anti-gay campaigners. I very strongly doubt it. You will no doubt come back with your usual piffle, I would remind you that I actually know her - in fact literally I sat behind her for her entire council career - when she indulged us in her presence. Yes, but you are a very right wing LibDem, so your view must be taken in that context. I can assure you that I think your politics are typical of your repellent party- far worse than "piffle" Repellent? The word is Repealant or Revokant
