Actually, not anecdotal, Tara Wolf was found guilty of the assault. I didn't mean anecdotal as in "we don't know if its actually true or not", but rather in its "something that happened being used to generalise more widely" sense. 'Anecdotal evidence reliable? One man says yes'

Since the Conservative split on Gravesham Council, I note the council leader and all the Cabinet members still come from the Independent Conservative group,
The Council composition is Labour 20, Conservative 14, Independent Conservative 10
Did either of the other groups try and take control?

No full council meeting has been held since the defection. Nor apparently has anyone tried to summon an emergency meeting.

The new Conservative group leader had said that he will not give the Council leader any support. Labour have said its an internal Conservative issue and they won’t get involved- presumably waiting to take control in May www.gravesendreporter.co.uk/news/new-conservative-leader-of-gravesham-1-5665394

Interesting move in a ward where the Lib Dems got under 7% in May.

Lib Dems had it more or less continuously from the mid 1980s to 2010, with the most prominent councillor being Paul Clark - candidate in the Liverpool Walton Parliamentary byelection in 1991.

Paul Clark also stood in the European election of 1979, polling 16.1%, much better than most Liberal candidates in the European elections that year managed in the UK. He stood in the same Liverpool Walton seat in the 1987 general election.

Tunbridge Wells: James Hannam (Frittenden and Sissinghurst) leaves the Conservatives to sit as an Independent, claiming that the council's decision to charge £52 for optional garden waste collection is a way of subsidising the £90m new council headquarters.

Bloody hell, is that a defection for a concrete reason? Rarity.

Clearly he was disgusted. Given this is about as far from the urban area of RTW as you can be within the borough, it's probably an anti-Tunbridge Wells protest. There is a lot of independent thinking in that part of the Kentish Weald in whether within Ashford, RTW and Maidstone boroughs and resistant to the urban centres. Whether it extends to Headcorn, a Maidstone ward with a common boundary with Frittenden & Sissinghurst, we may find out tomorrow.

I have never met her, to my knowledge. At least she got a "thank you" from Labour for her service, which is more than I got!

Sadly, following the blatant disingenuousness of Frank Field here, I am instinctively suspicious of those who cite this as a reason. (not least now that the party has done what they were supposedly asking for)
