you say no more? Why did you kill them? I'm going to email the CLP because this just seems unbelievable I said “I say no more” because I’m not going to write something after that to pretend to be nice to someone like that but neither do I celebrate deaths. I thought it was a polite way of drawing a line under it. As for your email to Birkenhead CLP good luck, if they admit it DM me to let me know I’d love to know why but tbh I can’t see them admitting to it. Maybe the deceased put it there surreptitiously because they were antisemitic and wanted to discreetly twist the knife or maybe they misheard, doubtful imo, I don’t know. Either way it isn’t a good look for that CLP. oh fair enough just sounded weirdly ominous lol

Dunno, maybe they do want to take their hand. I'm a stranger in paradise.... (hari = 'hand', karu = 'to take', kari = active form 'take') kara - empty te - hand kara - empty oke - orchestra he he, you're right. 針 (hari) is needle, my Kenkyusha lists it as an alternative for 'hand' in a technical context.

Tom Watson tonight says that Field is a major loss and calls this a wake-up call. Even a broken clock... Nah, this is just Watson being opportunistic - as he can be on occasion. Field had few friends even amongst the "core group hostile" section of the PLP, he very much does his own thing and this is no different. And pretending that it was about anti-semitism - a topic he has shown precisely no previous discernible interest in - has not gone down well within the party mainstream at all. There are people whose leaving would seriously bother me, he is not one of them.

Mike Gapes isn't going to be resigning his seat but if he was, then Ilford South is now rock solid safe Labour and the Conservatives would only make themselves look foolish by talking up their chances. Well, according to the DT he says he is "considering" resigning the whip AND precipitating a by-election along with "at least two others". I am surprised. EDIT See also an almost identical article in the Evening Standard.

Steven Woolfe MEP, elected for UKIP then went Independent, joins the Conservative Party.

Well it makes a change from forming your own party.
What does this now make the numbers of MEPs?

I knew I shouldn't have been so nice to him at school.

Did he get his application in on time? Possibly not - Guido is reporting that his application has been rejected. A surprising move - he always seemed one of the more credible Kippers.

I'm sure he's considerably more reasonable than many Tory members and councillors (and some MPs!) but the symbolism of his acceptance probably isn't worth the trouble for the party...

I am delighted that he has been rejected. It was his prominence along with that twerp Nuttall that convinced me that UKIP was entirely wrong for me. Both are very oddball indeed and I would not wish either of them to hold any office at all in the Conservative party.

Although Gerard Battern isn't wrong in principle that on a party list system one votes for the party not the individual, his reponse is nonetheless unnessecarily condesending.

That's eight MEPs gone/lost/defected since 2014 by my calculations.

That's eight MEPs gone/lost/defected since 2014 by my calculations. UKIP usually lose about half their MEPs over the course of a Parliament, so they've managed to keep more than they normally do.
