Despite the reports of massive irregularities from Frankfurt, the provisional results didn't differ enough from the provisional ones to change the seat count at all. The Greens ultimately finished 66 votes ahead of the SPD, rather than the originally reported 94.
A continuation of the current CDU-Green coalition is expected to be announced next month. Negotiations are ongoing.

Volker Bouffier remains head of government in Hesse. The CDU politician was elected with 69 votes against 66 with 1 abstention. The newsworthy part is that one seat majority coalition PM elections have produced some high drama during the last 20 years, with the hapless candidate getting the thumbs down twice. (Ypsilanti, Simonis) There were no ill feelings this time, a Hessenschau live feed of the constituent Landtag session had this explanation: And a baby was born during the voting. The only English report on the net seems to be at tellerreport.com, which to none of Antiochian 's surprise looks like its Russian, but the article itself is very good and has the baby story for those unable or unwilling to read the live feed: www.tellerreport.com/news/--hesse--landtag-chooses-bouffier-again-as-prime-minister-.H1l4pyd1XV.html

Not sure how I get dragged into German State elections... A report in English supposedly written by Russians (why? They called everyone "dahlink"?)
Never even heard of Volker Bouffant

Never even heard of Volker Bouffant The first interrogation is surprising, sorry for the apparent confusion, but here you are. vote-2012.proboards.com/post/702930The second one is tougher to answer. No, the site hasn't called anyone that by what i have read, and rechecking the page shows its a translation of this Der Spiegel article. Nowhere does it state to be 'written by Russians', i even couldn't find any impressum, but it does contain a high share of stories sourced from Russian-speaking areas, hence my guess. It was the only English language story of the event my search could find. And as to the third, neither have i.

Problematic is, that "IM Field" - an unknown pollster (and, by the way, "IM" doesn't sound too well in the exGDR...) - claim as shifts since their last poll in November AfD -6%, CDU -2%, Others -3% and GREENS +8% - not impossible, but still hard to believe!

The Bremen state elections will take place on the same day as the Europeans. There's a Wiki page up- apparently you have to be called Carsten or have a distinctly North German woman's name to be a lead candidate. The SPD are led by Grosse Kaese Carsten Sieling. His CDU opponent, Carsten Meyer-Heder, is a relative newcomer, to the extent that he was chosen as their candidate for mayor several months before even joining the party. The Greens' Maike Schaefer isn't particularly noteworthy by comparison. The FDP will be led by celebrity liberal Lencke Steiner again.

There are rumours from Sueddeutsche Zeitung that the CDU have come out on top in Bremen ahead of the SPD. This would apparently be the first time since...1946.

Changes in seats for CDU and Spd surely wrong way round... Thanks, corrected now. Here are also a few bits of information from the Radio Bremen teletext (yes, its TV). The local SPD chief (Sascha Karolin) has said that there is a basis for a Red-Red-Green Coalition, whereas the mayor (Carsten Stieler, SPD) wants to carry on, but nonetheless there will some head scratching (discussions) at the party today.
