The English "translation" of this is one of the most delightful I have ever encountered. Anyway, somebody in the Hessian electoral commission ought to get the sack

I don't get the feeling that the SPD would want to be the junior party in a coalition (particularly to a party that until a couple of months ago was virtually always the minor party everywhere). Furthermore, the FDP in Hesse are rather right wing and much more naturally suited to the CDU so I'm not sure what they actually have in common with the Greens or SPD. Has there been serious suggestion of traffic light? Yep, the FDP's strength in Hesse unsurprisingly lies in Frankfurt's City-types. As well as the Hesse patrician class. Even NRW doesn't have a FDP branch with a more obviously economically right-wing bent, surely? Effectively they're a very Whig Party in Hesse...

Now here's a question- since the war, how many Laender have had a party in government from outside the modern big five? A few that jump out: 2018- Bavaria 2012-2017 Schleswig-Holstein (SSW) 1989-1991 Berlin (included the AL, who really were just the Berlin version of the Greens) 1946-1958 B-W and predecessors (BHE)- notably, in 1956, this government included every party in the Landtag! 1945 Bremen (the DNVP!)
Laender not led by Union or SPD. B-W and predecessors: 1946-1953 FDP, 2011- Green Bremen: 1945 DNVP Thuringen: 2014- Die Linke

It will be interesting to see how the FW fair next time. No doubt actually being in government will take some of the edge off their message.

I think the second example definitely holds though. I'd completely forgotted about the PRO (in fairness I wasn't really following Land-level politics closely at the time, especially in the city-states). The English translation of its name sounds especially awkward. They only existed for 7 years, so being in government for 3 of those was pretty impressive when you think about it. It sounds like they were very much a personalist vehicle, so the writing was on the wall as soon as Roland Schill gave up the leadership. If we're including variants on the Greens, then we can also look to Hamburg where they were known as GAL (the Green-Alternative List) until 2012, and were in government from 1997-2001 and again from 2008 to 2011 under that name.

Strange that RP and NRW never had the BHE in government, unless that's somehow an indication of resettlement patterns after the expulsions- Hesse, Schleswig-Holstein, Baden-W and Bavaria took in an awful lot of them but I'm fairly certain that NRW must have taken a lot.

They either didn't stand, get the votes, or the seats required. de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gesamtdeutscher_Block/Bund_der_Heimatvertriebenen_und_Entrechteten#Ergebnisse_der_Wahlen_zu_LandesparlamentenI can recall that the appreciation of their stances did vary, with socially liberal places tending to be less sympathetic. Even if these memories cover a later time span where they didn't run anymore on their own...

Would be really helpful to have parties spelt out properly (including with English translations if possible) on these threads rather than the acronyms.

There should be a party in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern whose main platform is the reinstatement of Rindfleischetikettierungsüberwachungsaufgabenübertragungsgesetz, with the party name making this clear.

There would end up being a Bavarian version before you know it.
