Am I right that Windsor and Maidenhead is the first LD by-election gain since the May elections?

Am I right that Windsor and Maidenhead is the first LD by-election gain since the May elections? Yes. It was in a "split" ward where the Conservatives gained 2 seats and a Lib Dem topped the 2011 poll. The deceased councillor had originally been a Lib Dem but contested the 2011 election as a Conservative.

David Jones (Ind) - 127 Joe Rez (Lib Dem) - 361 Turnout 22.5% - Info: David Jones is a former British People's Party candidate and Neo-Nazi. However he was expelled from that party several months back since he took Claire Khaw (of Malaysian/Chinese descent) back to his house and rumours are he got up to something.

David Jones: 2.bp.blogspot.com/-XrPl8a6q1gE/T3A8BXJHAMI/AAAAAAAABOQ/EdtiXdCHXso/s1600/dj+gun+and+flag.jpg"Things are now so bad in Paedo Bastard Britain Slutland that that even the so-called Nazis and Fascists of Britain are more libertarian and less censorious than the so-called liberal establishment who want to read all our texts, emails and listen in to all our conversations before throwing us in jail for 56 days for tweeting blasphemously against their Black God Muamba! www.bpp.org.uk/bpptod2012.htmlDave Jones' election leaflet. Worth a read to show how "Nazi" he is. You might even end up wishing that your councillor had his views and spirit! If he is elected I am sure he will do his very very best, because he has more to prove than any other councillor. Of this you can be sure. Posted by Claire Khaw at 13:11 "

^ I rarely call people Neo-Nazis (as that term is usually employed as a smear) however the BPP actually is openly a Neo-Nazi party - just take a look at their policies, or merch page which sell Hitler fridge magnets. And yes also David Jones is pictured with a huge Swastica flag.

Anyone would think that New Tredegar and Maidenhead have little in common from a sociological point of view.

I note that David Jones was campaigning in Todmorden Central for the restoration of traditional family values.
It seems to have been quite an acrimonious election campaign.
David Jones wrote in his blog "The Voice of Reason": "Now it is surely time to take a stand against 'gay marriage'.... Christians and Muslims must stick to their scriptural principles."
Joe Rez, the successful Lib Dem candidate, is the mayoral consort of Abid Hussain, the current town mayor of Todmorden, who is a Muslim and also a Lib Dem.
Cllr Rez said he was delighted to be back on the council (he represented Stansfield ward from 2007 to 2011, but switched to Cornholme ward in 2011 and was defeated by Labour) and to have ensured what he described as the "crushing defeat" of Mr Jones.
