There were 114 by-elections on 2 May 2013, a similar point in the last election cycle. This thread is for the by-elections to be held on 4 May 2017.

Similarly the Preston City Council website says that there will be by-elections in Preston Rural East and Ashton wards on May 4th.
The former was expected, following the death of veteran Tory councillor Tom Davies last November.
But the Ashton vacancy is news to me. It's only a two councillor ward, and one of them (Angela Vodden) was only elected last May. However I see she missed the last few council meetings, so perhaps she is vacating already?

Yesterday was the first day that a by-election could be called for the 4 May(35 working days excluding Good Friday, Easter Monday and May Day) so expect a number to be called imminently.

Perhaps some councils that were a little hasty are still falsely under the impression that Maundy Thursday counts as a non-working day? |
