Failsworth East Lab 58.4 C 25.4 UKIP 11.7 GP 3.5 L Dem 1.1 What was that you were saying about a Lib Dem surge in local byelections again? The surge is clearly running out of steam. NumbrCrunchrPolitics notes " "Terrible result for the Lib Dems in Burton (East Staffs). Vote share only up 5 points on last time..."

F of Dean a good result for both Green, and LibDems.

Ah. Slightly less weird. But still a great performance by the Greens. Another dodgy old night for UKIP.

Nobody has the rest of the Burton result, do they?
Or perhaps they only counted the Lib Dem votes ...

A genuinely terrible by-election night for the Lib Dems for the first time in ages (Burton aside, I suppose – but they were only up 5% even there)... which is an interesting development, I reckon.

Ordinarily I'd be worried by the prospect of 3x LD defences...but this week I'm unusually calm... (Pride comes before a fall? We'll see...) Yep. Pride indeed. Looks like local factors there, but I wonder if the amount of effort being diverted to the two national by elections is having an effect. The local by election results were very average in the run-up to Richmond also...
