If every state used the system Maine and Nebraska use, the result would have been Biden 277 Trump 261 I was close Thanks for the replies. I did cross-post onto one of the US threads and @ajs mentioned the Daily Kos one which as you say is incomplete. I was able to do a rough extrapolation for the incomplete states. 278 - 260 I made it, give or take a couple or so

If every state used the system Maine and Nebraska use, the result would have been Biden 277 Trump 261 Though obviously with the caveat that if every state used the Maine-Nebraska method we'd have seen a different campaign focus, with much more campaigning in places like CA-48, CT-02, the first three Iowa districts, IL-14, IL-17, KS-03, NJ-05, NJ-07, NJ-11 etc. Would make for a more diverse and interesting campaign as well as being closer to the method that the Founding Fathers envisaged (single member districts to choose all Electoral College members.)

Very true. And states which are very electorally polarised might be particularly interesting.

Now I'm just picturing the scenario where a 6,702 vote swing discovered in March was enough to flip a State, and flipping that State was enough to flip the Electoral College and therefore the Presidency... like, imagine if Florida had made a similar correction in favour of the Dems in 2000...

In reality it would be too late to be anything but noise, as the new president is already sworn in.

Noise is alas substantial, if not all-encompassing, in US politics these days...

Pretty bloody late but here you go: New York should be stripped of congressional representation and electoral votes until such time that they can demonstrate the ability to carry out elections in a satisfactory manner.
