Who?! FFS this is working class Aldershot here!! Didn't you read the preview? Yes but it's full of Army folk and I thought we were led by a lily livered pacifist commie and such voters were aching to vote for Ukip That's like saying wards in Pompey are full of matelots. The amount of service personnel in wards these days is a lot less than it used to be, not least when they don't have barracks within them.

"We don't want any of that sort of talk here, Wilson. There are no Labour voters in our ward."

UKIP are a party with little money , falling membership , councillors leaving the party every week and now not even able to stand candidates in 6 out of 7 elections . What is the point of UKIP ? Well! To annoy the LDs and to do between 3-times and two-times as well in the polls. And at Aldershot to come in a good second place ahead of the Conservatives and well ahead of the LDS. Oh No! Wrong! You wer not even standing there! What is the point of the LDs? The point of the Lib Dems is to win elections and seats as per Sherborne and it is rumoured Mid Suffolk ( not counting till tomorrow though )

The military ward in Aldershot is Wellington ward. Three Labour Councillors. And even there probably most votes aren't cast by 'Army folk' - it includes the grotty town centre. Most squaddies don't vote in local elections (turnout there was only 21% this May and only 45% on General election day)

Non officer service personnel are some of the hardest people to convince to vote in local elections from experience. Their spouses are usually a bit easier, but not much (especially if they haven't lived in the area long).

The transfer rate from Con/LD must have been much higher than usual to get that result.
Also, there must be an issue with those numbers, as SNP 3rd round is lower that SNP 1st round.
