Newry, Mourne and Down Council- Slieve Gullion DEA- Peter Byrne (SDLP) replaced Geraldine Donnelly who retired Derry and Stabane Council- Waterside DEA- Tina Gardiner (SDLP) replaced Gerry Diver who was Co-Opted to the Assembly 2015Mid and East Antrim Council- Coast Road DEA- Angela Smyth (DUP) replaced Gordon Lyons who was Co-Opted to the Assembly Belfast City Council- Colin DEA- Séanna Walsh (SF) replaced Bill Groves who retired Derry and Stabane Council- Ballyarnett ward- Warren Robinson (IND) replaced Dee Quigley who moved to Australia Belfast City Council- Ormiston DEA- Sian O'Neill (APNI) replaced Laura McNamee who stepped down to focus on teaching. The deadline of nominating the Co Option will be 3rd of June 2016 or 4th of June 2016 depending on the date of the Final Assembly Declaration.

Does it legally have to go to the DUP, or could the UUP oppose the co-option and force a by-election? Admittedly the DUP would almost certainly win any by-election though. |

Nothing in the legislation allows for the UUP to oppose the Co-Option, it all comes down to the DUPs ability to get a replacement ready for the 3rd of June. The By Election in Lisburn North would be interesting as there would be no personal vote for any of the candidates. |
