This is a bit of a shill post I'm afraid. If it isn't allowed, please tell me and I will delete it. As some of you know I have been writing Alternative History for some years and, well, Sealion Press have just published my first e-book. Dislocated to Success, it tells the story of a United Kingdom suddenly moved from 1980 to 1730 through the eyes of Norman StJohn-Stevas, or as he becomes quite quickly Viscount Fawsley. My second book, "Britain without Beeching" is rather less political but will be published in a couple of months.

Fine with me, but then I keep making less than veiled references to the plays I'm involved in... Can you give us a rundown on your forthcoming title? Is it a vision of Britain without the good doctor's railway cuts?

Is it a vision of Britain without the good doctor's railway cuts? Basically, yes. It's a travelogue around the railways of the UK via a 14 day All Line Rover ticket. It also includes a few political references as well. It was originally published as "Oh Doctor Beeching" on alternativehidstory.com and is being revised, extended and proof read for release in July. The title has obviously had to change due to copyright.

Well, I just hope it is better than the TV series of that name I would say it could hardly be worse, but then my other half would probably kill me. It is one of his favourite programmes.

I very much question his taste.

The last two mornings I've travelled Leeds to Burley Park for the cricket. Both times the train was formed of a 142/150 combination. Yesterday I travelled happily in the 142. This morning I ran into a mate on the platform- he was standing by the leading door of the 150 (which was the trailing unit). I kept on trying to edge him up the platform a bit, with no joy. I'm now in Snow Hill waiting room (aka the Wellington) before the 21:15. I hope it's not a 165.

Yes, there are a few first generation DMUs hanging around in odd corners like from Nottingham Victoria to Rugby Central.

Iain,
An amazing book from an amazing storyline. Very, very well done.
As many others, I do find myself checking every evening to see if we are lucky enough to get another update on AH.
I will most certainly leave a review of the book on Amazon.
