Any known differences between blocs and/or factions of candidates?

FWIW, there is going to be a general election in Guernsey in June. A constitutional change means that the whole island is now a single constituency, with 38 seats elected by FPTP. I think I read that there are 100 candidates, but I'm not sure if that's accurate because it would mean closing nominations more than 3 months in advance.

No, which is why I didn't write that they were electing 38 members by SNTV. I wrote that they are electing 38 members by FPTP. What I meant was that they are electing 38 members by FPTP. If I had meant that they were electing 38 members by SNTV, then I would have written that they are electing 38 members by SNTV, but I didn't and they aren't.

I guess I read too much into "the entire island is one constituency" thing. (SNTV is basically multi-member FPTP after all)

SNTV is when you have less votes than the amount of seats available. This election will be multi member FPTP as each elector has the ability to vote for 38 candidates (and there are 38 seats available).

One of my friends at uni is from Guernsey, and is absolutely furious about the change to the voting system because it makes voting much more complicated. It is also worth noting that 16 and 17 year olds will get the vote for the first time.

I...didn't imagine that to be possible. god knows how many names on the ballot paper, and 38 winners from that. That sounds cumbersome. Whatever floats their boat I guess.

Remember, there are no political parties on Guernsey so everyone stands as an Indy thus having an island wide constituency mean that it's harder for someone really well known in one part of the island to break through compared to before and people well known across the island already, as incumbents, will garner more support, including from people who were unable to vote for them previously.
