Alderholt – East Dorset DC – Ian Monks (Conservative) resigned. He was a councillor since 2008 and Council Leader since 2013. He resigned the day after a Council meeting where the Executive plan to study the creation of unitary authority/ies in Dorset by a 20-8 vote, with various councillors complainings there was no consultation, that it was negiociated in opaque meetings between Council Leaders and that the 86-pages report about it was sent 2 days before the meeting. Given that the council is 26-3 Con-LD, it means over the 2/3 of Conservative councillors voted against their own leader. Former Council Leader Spencer Flower (which has been convinced last year for failing to declare a conflict of interest and had to run as an Independent due to that) replaced him as Council Leader.
