Froggatt is an incomer (only nine years on the island!) I think from England. The Green was from Stornoway, not in the ward. Macleod on the other hand seemed to have just about every voluntary organisation sewn up. I don't know if he's the same John MacLeod as the one who is in charge of a well known Gaelic Language organisation. He certainly isn't the same Macleod as the one(s) who stood in this ward in 2007 and previously. Finally, I felt not feeling the need for any description at all can sometimes be an ominous sign for opponents. Interesting, thanks. I did wonder how people picked the 'right' Independent in the Prediction competition but those points are worth remembering...

The other one was an incomer, from the East Midlands. Of England.

AN TAOBH SIAR AGUS NIS, Eilean Siar NoDes Macleod 886 (86.9%) Ind Froggatt 75 (7.4%) Grn Humphreys 59 (5.8%) Recount?Somebody beat me to it. Macleod. Did you know that Lewis had 28 different bus operators named Macleod. Before 1939! Or 29 if you count Malcolm Macleod and Malcolm Macleod Jnr as two operators. I like Kenneth Macleod of Balallan who combined bus operation with being a tweed merchant, sub-postmaster and keeping a shop which sold "groceries, footwear and sheepdip". As you do.

Cardiff Riverside (2012, 2013by) Lab 1071 45.9% (-0.8; -4.4) PC 780 33.5% (+2.4; -1.2) Con 155 6.6% (-1.1; +1.8) UKIP 110 4.7% (+4.7; +0.3) Grn 109 4.7% (-3.2; +4.7) LD 85 3.6% (-0.2; +1.0) TUSC 21 0.9% (-1.8; -2.2) Curious. Everyone thought that the all-new Corbyn Show would kill off the Greens. Instead, the Greens might prove more resilient than imagined. Presumably the drop in the TUSC vote can be explained by them all joining Labour... Do the 76.1% of non-voters count as votes for Jezza?

The last regular election there was 2012, easily Labour's best year in the last parliament and before both the UKIP and Green "surges" had really taken off.
So its not such a bad Labour result compared with many recently.

Incidentally, strikes me that Bolsover South is one of those mis-named compass point wards. It should really be called Bolsover East.

Sandford and the Wittenhams reported as a Tory hold, no figures yet.
Turnout in Woking reported as 29% in Goldsworth East and 25% in Goldsworth West.

TUSC generally do well in the Bolsover area, and they do comparatively well in a similar area in the North West region (Knowsley). Speaking of the far-left, Respect got a councillor elected in Bolsover (in the Shirebrook North West ward) in 2007....

Aird/Loch Ness counts tomorrow.
No clue about Totnes, but the resigning Green councillor said he voted for Labour, due to them having a local candidate (the Green is from the other side of the district, near Plymouth).

We were all wrong in Goldsworth.
LD wins East and Con wins West, when the reverse was expected.
