In yesterday's RunOffs (participation below 50%) the capitol Chininau was successfully defended by the ProEuropean-forces (53.44%), despite their chaotic federal government. The far smaller second- and third-largest towns were won by the ProRussian-side.

Not for the first time I have pangs of regret that we lost the USSR; life was simpler then with an enemy used to proper rules of engagement and unruly eastern elements 'kept in order'.

It was even better when Austria-Hungary fulfilled the role. They also had better wine and better cakes, and an army whose major function was to see who had the best uniform. |
