Would be very interested to see comparator results between the general election and the local elections in areas where they were both held together. I know in some areas there was significant variances, and that in some constituencies, a different party won the election. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Eastleigh is a good example, Lib Dems won 12 of 14 wards up for election in the locals.

I posted the other day in the Derby North thread figures showing that Labour carried the constituency relatively comfortably in the local elections whilst losing the national constituency by 41 votes.

In a number of constituencies, the difference between the local and national lib dem vote was huge.
Have found a few instances such as Liverpool Wavertree (Church ward) and Bolton West (Smithills Ward) where the Lib Dems got more votes in 1 ward of the constituency for the local elections than they did in the whole constituency for the General Election.
