Mole Valley DC twitter is covering the count. An example to follow for other authorities.
They just began counting in Holmwoods, turnout 32.3%.

That's a beyond dreadful result for UKIP in Holmwoods. They won a seat there in 2014!

That's a beyond dreadful result for UKIP in Holmwoods. They won a seat there in 2014! TBH, the Holmwoods was a somewhat atypical ward for UKIP to have won in the first place, so I'm not surprised they weren't that close to holding it without concurrent Euro elections. Decent LD performance though.

Decent LD performance though. From what I see of the area's history, I would guess, not knowing the area, that there is a significant low-income element around North Holmwood which was wooed by the LDs as a winnable alternative to Labour, and it was the shift in this portion which gave the ward to UKIP last year.

It's a (long) while since I've lived in the area, and I can't be bothered to look up the data, but I'd doubt there was a significant low income element anywhere in the Holmwoods.

Its always worthwhile to look up data and not too much bother now thanks to Kevin Larkins site www.boundaryassistant.org/census/censusstats.htmThis does show that Tangent is basically correct. There is a substantial proportion of social housing in the ward (the highest in the borough) and some of it none too pretty (see Stubs Hill for example)

I stand corrected and will actually do my homework next time . Although in my defence I'd say that the areas to the North of Deepdene Road are really part of Dorking rather than North Holmwood and therefore wasn't really what I was remembering when I was thinking of the Holmwoods.
