Interesting IMO that the original recommendations for Staffordshire were as follows:
Burton: 58,282 Cannock: 66,529 Lichfield & Tamworth: 60,524 Mid Staffs: 62,291 South Staffs: 62,784 Stafford: 63,328 Staffs Moorlands: 69,258 Newcastle-under-Lyme: 65,649 Stoke Central: 78,225 Stoke North: 66,197 Stoke South: 66,841
I'm scratching my head as to which areas were included in this Mid Staffs seat. Maybe it was Stone, Rugeley and Burntwood. Perhaps it stretched all the way from just south of Stoke-on-Trent to the border with Warwickshire, an ever weirder shape than the eventual Mid Staffs constituency that was adopted.
