Redditch council has listed two seats in West ward in its Notice of Election, following the resignation of Michael Braley (Independent), who was elected as a Conservative. He had formed the Redditch Democratic Alliance Group with UKIP's Paul Swansborough. This Group is now dissolved (retires 2016).
Rossendale council has published Notices of Vacancy for Longholme and Whitewell wards, following the resignations of Peter Roberts (Lab) and Karen Creaser (Lab), Peter Roberts was due to retire this year and Karen Creaser is due to retire in 2016.

Incidentally, as reported in the Local Government Elections 2015 threads, both Bassetlaw and Hertsmere are moving to whole council elections this year - and holding all out elections on 7 May. There are no boundary changes involved - unlike Purbeck and Stratford-on-Avon.

Looks like a double vacancy election in Greenhead ward, Kirklees MB - former Labour council leader Mehboob Khan is resigning from the seat he won in 2012. He's moved to London to be a political advisor, and now lives in Greenwich.
Coincidentally, someone called Mehboob Khan has been selected to stand in the byelection in Greenwich West ward caused by Matt Pennycook's resignation. Surely must be the same man.

Two by-elections in Kingston-upon-Thames on 7 May, both caused by Lib Dem resignations:
Grove Ward - resignation due to work commitments of Stephen Brister, deputy leader of LibDem Group - recently criticised for low attendance at meetings Tolworth & Hook Rise - resignation of Vicki Harris (Cllr since 1994)

Fife council website lists a by election on May 7th in Dunfermline South ward resignation of Cara Hilton , Labour . MSP who was elected with her comitment in saving primary school a major part of her campaign resigns council seat over school closing. MMM, still Labour, mmmmm, Still MSP, mmmmm, made it nigh on impossible for labour to hold council seat. I am sure she will be welcome at the next few Labour Party meetings.

Test Valley has published a Notice of Election for the Andover West division of Hampshire, following the resignation of Pat West (Con) on 16 March. Basingstoke and Deane has published a Notice of Election for the Rooksdown ward, so presumably Karen Cherrett (Con) has resigned (retires 2016). This is a single vacancy, as there was no election due this year. It appears that Copeland will be electing a Mayor directly for the first time on 7 May www.copeland.gov.uk/section/directly-elected-mayorPedant’s corner Cambridgeshire – Whittlesey North Cherwell – Caversfield Flintshire – Caergwrle Lambeth – Prince’s Watford – Callowland Harlow – Great Parndon

There are two other vacancies on Swansea - Morriston ward and Townhill Ward - both Labour resignations. I assume that resignations now are for the purposes of holding the by-elections on 7th May.

Mehboob Khan was first elected to the newly formed Greenhead ward in 2004 following a boundary review. Prior to that he was a councillor for the Birkby ward. Rumour had it that Barry Sheerman put off retiring simply to stop Khan becoming his successor. I've no idea how much truth there is to that but I have personal reasons for hoping it was indeed the case.

Seems like an odd decision. Is Hampstead Town in the seat?

LB Newham, Stratford and New Town by election caused by disqualification for non attendance for maternity leave which the Councillor wrongly believed she was entitled to.Cllr has now been selected to fight the by election.A total waste of public money.

Presumably this would be Charlene McLean. It almost beggars belief that a Party colleague or Council official didn't have a little chat with her. At least the election will be held simultaneously with the GE so the admin costs will be minimised.

Yes it is, she was given advice, but it turned out to be crap. However, according to the Newham Recorder, she was badly served by the Party Leadership. An extension of leave would have been granted by the Council and would it seems be legal.
