I see True Finns have changed their English name to The Finns. Yes, apparently before 2011 they didn't have an official English name and so they were called 'True Finns' as an english translation of Perussuomalaiset. It seems in 2011 they decided to adopt 'Finns party' as their official name in English.

I have no idea what the current issues are, or what the parties' positions are on those issues, so I decided to vote for the Swedish option just for the fun of it.

After extensive and in-depth research (i.e. Looking at Wikipedia for a few minutes) I have changed my vote to the National Coalition Party. This is for historical reasons because I'm a monarchist and conservative, not because of current issues.

In 2011 there were 15 constituencies or Electoral Districts for the Finnish Parliamentary elections. Helsinki 01 Uusimaa 02 Finland Proper 03 Satakunta 04 Åland 05 Tavastia 06 Pirkanmaa 07 Kymi 08 Southern Savonia 09 Northern Savonia 10 North Karelia 11 Vaasa 12 Central Finland 13 Oulu 14 Lapland 15 The number of electoral districts has been reduced this time by merging Northern Savonia and Northern Karelia together to make a new district called Savonia-Karelia. Kymi and Southern Savonia have also been merged to form a new district called South-Eastern Finland. link

Not heard any moral panic about the True Finns for a while. Of course you wouldn't have heard any moral panic about them in the UK press lately. When the Finns Party was sitting in a European Parliament group with UKIP they would sometimes be mentioned in the context of 'look at the dreadful people UKIP sit with in the EP, like the True Finns'. Now that they are sitting in the same group as the Conservative Party led by the press' golden boy David Cameron of course they are no longer mentioned in that context.

I will not disagree with you- but I was alluding more to the True Finns previously being lazily portrayed as fascists.

In fairness the True Finns image probably took a knock due to being in a parliamentary group with some rather unsavoury parties.

One thing I notice when I look at polls for general elections in other countries, is that there is much more consistency between different polling companies than there is in the UK. Yes I've noticed that as well. Any idea why that might be?

Yes I've noticed that as well. Any idea why that might be? I think it is a difference in approach - British pollsters seem to take the view that a poll is a prediction, rather than a snapshot at a point in time Some do rather more than others, which helps explain the variety of results. As I have said before, I am not personally a fan of the "quasi-prediction" approach to polling.....

One thing I'm noticing about Finland is how rare national political opinion poll are there. So far this week we've had eight national opinion polls for Great Britain with three more expected tonight. Meanwhile, five weeks before their general election, here is Finland's sixth national opinion poll to be published so far this year. Poll from Tietoykkönen, fieldwork 5-11 March (changes from 28 Jan-3 Feb poll) Centre Party 23.5% (-1.9) National Coalition 17.3% (-0.5) Finns Party 16.8% (+1.5) Social Democratic 16.4% (-0.1) Left Alliance 8.3% (+0.1) Green 8.2% (+0.4) Swedish People's 4.1% (+0.1) Christian Democratic 3.6% (nc) www.iltalehti.fi/uutiset/2015031319354040_uu.shtmlwww.kp24.fi/uutiset/385835/IL-n-kysely-Perussuomalaiset-nosteessa-keskusta-laskussa
