I don't think this has been posted here, the first Council by-election of 2015 took place yesterday.
Bolsover North West, Bolsover District Council
2003: Lab (x2) unopposed 2007: Lab 412, 394 LD 277 2011: Lab 561, 528 Cons 277
Result (Lab hold)
Sue Statter (Labour Party Candidate) - 174 votes John Bagshaw (UK Independence Party (UKIP)) - 153 votes Maxine Hunt (The Conservative Party Candidate) - 60 votes
Turnout: 13.4%
There was also a by-election for the North West ward of Old Bolsover Parish Council. The result was Chris Christopher (no description) 166; Alan Tudor (Labour) 118; and John Bagshaw (UKIP) 109.
Both by-elections caused by the death, of cancer aged 82, of Cllr Thomas Rodda on 20 October.

First mention I have seen of said vacancy anywhere - judging by the turnout, seems most voters weren't aware of it either.

The name of the winning candidate is Sue Statter, not Slatter.
